Wisdom: Men & Women

Men :

1. All men are extremely busy.
2. Although they are so busy, they still have time for women.
3. Although they have time for women, they don't really care for them.
4. Although they don't really care for them, they always have one around.
5. Although they always have one around them, they always try their luck with others.

Women :

1. The most important thing for a woman is financial security.
2. Although this is so important, they still go out and buy expensive clothes and stuff.
3. Although they always buy expensive clothes, they never have something to wear.
4. Although they never have something to wear, they always dress beautifully.
5. Although they always dress beautifully, their clothes are always just "an old rag".
6. Although their clothes are always "just an old rag", they still expect you to compliment them.
7. Although they expect you to compliment them, when you do, they don't believe you.

What Kind of Pet Would You Be?

You Would Be a Pet Bird

You're intelligent and witty, yet surprisingly low maintenance. You charm people easily, and they usually love you a lot more than you love them. You resent anyone who tries to own or control you. You refuse to be fenced in.

Why you would make a great pet: You're very smart and entertaining
Why you would make a bad pet: You're not interested in being anyone's pet!
What you would love about being a bird: Flying, obviously
What you would hate about being a bird: Being caged

Philosophy and Uncommon Sense V2.6

This blog is as good as dead in the water but I'll post anyway.

Well in Malaysia, many things are geared towards the coming general election which many see as the true test to the current elected Government. It is currently facing many threats at its forefront with those usual challenges such as economy, corruption, constitutional crisis, judiciary etc.

I for one am still struggling with my own lessons in philosophy and I thought it be interesting to post some snippets on Logic due to the coming election. We'll probably see lots of illogical arguments being floated around and false promises in due time.

Time permitting, will try to post new blog as frequent as possible before the coming election. Some of the posts here are from two interesting books, Crimes Against Logic by Jamie Whyte and a classic text book on logic, Copi & Cohen's Intro to Logic.

Today I shall talk about "Argument Ad Hominem" which loosely translates as "against the person". This is sometimes also called character assasination, which is very commonly used during election.

It is a fallacious attack in which the thrust is directed, not at a conclusion but at the person who asserts or defends it (Copi & Cohen).

In Malaysia, we see many such fallacy judging from past election process. It ranges from whether that person is a divorcee (or living in a polygamous marriage), suspected of some past misdeeds or lives in a large mansion. Efforts and character assassination are all directed at these. Seldom does the press or public concentrate on the issues at hand or argue about the conclusion or premises.

Well I guess we live in a society where many are simply more interested on trivial and irrelevant issues; and hence can only comprehend on whether that person is living a "moral" life or otherwise and, choose to ignore issues..or maybe because its just to complex to discuss and debate?

Life appears more colourful and interesting than to debate on matters too complex for the common people......
